ADHD & Executive Functioning Coaching

The Basics

Traditional ADHD coaching uses techniques from CBT to target ADHD-related challenges such as time management, organization, regulating attention, and emotions. A modified version called executive functioning coaching also works for individuals with ASD, NVLD, and dyscalculia, conditions that all commonly come with executive functioning challenges. That’s why I consider myself a neurodivergent coach.

A coach helps you:

  1. Identify what you want to work on

  2. Identify strategies you already have that can help

  3. Set realistic goals to use these strategies

  4. Stay on track as you work on those goals

Other Facts

  • You can do both executive functioning/ADHD coaching and cognitive/behavioral therapy.

  • Executive functioning/ADHD coaches only take insurance if they are also clinically licensed therapist, but they will work with you to make their services as accessible as possible.

  • You don't need a degree or license to be a coach, but there is certification through the Professional Association for ADHD Coaches (PAAC). You can find certified ADHD coaches on the ADDitude directory, CHADD directory, or ADD Coach Academy directory. A clinically licensed therapist with additional training is also a qualified ADHD coach.
